Sanvitalia

Description: The creeping zinnia is an excellent companion for other sun-loving bed and balcony plants. And it is a grateful plant that flowers on into autumn without the need for pruning.
Potting: 10 - 12 cm pots; 65 - 42 plants/m2; calendar weeks 5 - 10
20 - 25 cm hanging baskets; 18 - 10 plants/m²; weeks 1 - 8.<
Substrate: Well draining substrate with clay portion;
pH approx. 5
Fertilization: Moderately consumptive, add a 0.15 - 0.25 % complete fertilizer once a week.
Temperature: Start at 16 - 18 °C, finish cultivation at 12 - 16 °C;
Cool Morning and DIF result in very compact plants.
Sanvitalia is suitable for cold cultivation to a limited degree only.
Light: Full light, no shadow.
Flowering: From mid-April depending on light conditions.
Growth regulators: If necessary; Topflor 0.05 %; Caramba 0.075 - 0.1 %; Regalis 0.1 %.
Pinching: Pinching is not absolutely necessary. However, if branching is not satisfactory, some trimming or shaping is recommended to get a better plant build-up.
1 to 2 weeks after potting or immediately in case of a suitable young plant size.
Diseases and pest: Botrytis, plant lice; miner flies. Take hygienic measures!
Water balance is of importance; the plants must not stand too wet, danger of botrytis, damage to roots and irregular plant build-up are the consequences.
